MY DIY HOME DECOR AND FURNITURE
Here are some simple ways to dress up the home with just a little spray paint! Below are some projects of mine that take furniture from boring to fresh with a classic feel with just a lick of paint and some minor accessories! I took an old brown bookshelf and turned it into a living room center piece that looks brand new. I added 2 coats of white paint and gold stencils to the background, (sold on ETSY) and of course my favorite books, nik naks and candles. So, next time you're debating between that pre-built bookshelf and the the self-assembled one, remember that you'll feel it's more valuable when you put it together yourself.
Below is a basic chair from an old dining room set, but now serves as a great stand-alone (pun intended) piece for the corner of my living room. I went with a pink paint - 3 coats - from Lowe's and a statement pillow, also a foot stool that I reupholstered and now looks brand new after a few minutes of DIY imagination.
Paint your chairs with a personal favorite color. Brush-on paints and aerosol paints both work well, so choose whichever you prefer. Read the label to make sure the paint will stand up to repeated cleaning, especially if your chairs will be used by young children. Let the first coat dry for at least 24 hours.
Sand between coats of paint with 220-grit or finer sandpaper if you want a mirror-smooth finish. This is not strictly necessary, but if you do sand between coats make sure you get up every speck of sanding dust with a tack cloth before applying your next coat of paint.
Let dry for at least 24 hours.

I display mine on window sills in my living room and bed room. Let it dry for ten minutes and voilà !
Most spray paint instructions tell you to use multiple thin coats. But with the Valspar Metallic gold spray paint, I found that multiple coats dulls the metallic finish. So I shake and depress the nozzle and move left to right then back again right to left; maybe a few more sweeps back and forth to make sure the coverage is complete. Simple, easy, and beautiful.
